Mukesh Verma 7th MLA to quit BJP ahead of UP polls, says more will follow SP Maurya soon

Adding to the growing worries of the BJP in Uttar Pradesh, MLA Mukesh Verma has now resigned. Mukesh Verma accused the Yogi Adityanath-led government of neglecting the Dalits, other backward classes, minority communities, farmers and the unemployed people in Uttar Pradesh. Other MLAs who resigned from the UP BJP since Tuesday are: Swami Prasad Maurya, also a prominent Other Backward Class leader, had quit the state cabinet. However, two Uttar Pradesh MLAs Naresh Saini from the Congress and Hari Om Yadav from the SP joined the BJP on Wednesday, a welcome development for the ruling party as it deals with the sudden defections from its ranks. Another Uttar Pradesh minister, Dharam Singh Saini, is likely to resign from the Bharatiya Janata Party as he, on Thursday, returned the security cover and residence allotted to him by the state government.
