But recently, experts are focusing their attention on the potential body dysmorphic issues that men may experiencing. Ciara Bogdanovic, LMFT, a therapist who specializes in body dysmorphia, says that this has a lot to do with social media and the unrealistic standards it tends to set. 'Bigorexia' is a body dysmorphic disorder where a person believes they aren't muscular enough She also explains that nothing is as it seems on social media. Men with bigorexia often hyper-focus on their body fat percentage When Bogdanovic has patients who suffer from bigorexia, her first approach is to examine the consequences of whatever behaviors they may be putting their bodies through.
