The Thanjavur Forest Division has submitted to its higher-ups a detailed project report for the establishment of the crocodile conservation centre at Anaikarai along the Kollidam in Thanjavur district. The report details various components, including human-crocodile conflict at Anaikarai and a slew of facilities planned at the centre besides giving insights on conservation and the research study to be carried out. The research study will be for one year when the researchers will study the crocodile habitats along the Kollidam, associated channels in the adjoining districts where crocodile conflict has been reported. The study would identify critical crocodile habitats along the channels and suggest ways to prevent human-crocodile conflict.
