Why Indian medical students evacuated from Ukraine have pinned their hopes on the Supreme Court

The Supreme Court has now stepped in, issuing notices to the Union government and the National Medical Commission on a petition filed by these students seeking admission to medical colleges in India to complete their education or to be allowed to return to their respective universities in Ukraine. On returning from Ukraine, Venugopal set up the All Kerala Ukraine Medical Students and Parents Association. The association urged the external affairs ministry to convince Ukraine to get its universities to start online centres for completion of courses or for the Indian government to allow the students to finish their courses at universities back home. “A majority of Indian students in Ukraine belong to middle or lower income groups and have invariably taken education loans.
