DMK-led TN govt seeks permission from SC to restart Jayalalithaa death probe
India TodayThe DMK-led Tamil Nadu government has sought permission from the Supreme Court to restart the inquiry into the death of former CM and AIADMK leader J Jayalalithaa. The DMK, which informed the court that 90 per cent of the investigation has been completed by the Arumugam Swamy Commission, which was appointed by the former AIADMK government, has been inactive after the stay order of the Supreme Court. "The Commission has completed the examination of 154 witnesses, which included 56 doctors attached to Apollo Hospital, five doctors from AIIMS, 12 government doctors, including the Medical Board of five doctors constituted by the government of Tamil Nadu, 22 paramedical and other staff of the Petitioner and 59 other witnesses. The Tamil Nadu government move to the SC also comes at a time when the Madras High court is already hearing a PIL with regards to the Arumugaswamy commission and why the commission should not be directed to submit its final report and wind up its business within three weeks.
