UP government unfazed by teachers' protest over digital attendance in schools
India TodayScores of teachers from primary and secondary schools in Uttar Pradesh are continuing their protest against the implementation of the digital attendance system by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath-led state government. Several teachers' organisations said that the government's order for digital attendance was "impractical", as it was not possible for the teachers to reach the school on time every day to mark their attendance. Notably, on the first day of implementation of the new order, on July 8, only two per cent of the teachers had marked digital attendance. Likewise, Samajwadi Party leader Fakhrul Hasan Chand said that the order to mark digital attendance is an atrocity against teachers, and it is not possible for teachers coming from remote areas.
