Minister rules out change in higher secondary examination timings

The Hindu

Minister for General Education V. Sivankutty has ruled out a change in timings of public examinations for higher secondary classes from afternoon to morning. Replying to a submission by Kurukkoli Moideen, MLA, in the Assembly on Tuesday seeking a change in the examination timings, Mr. Sivankutty said the Plus Two examinations would be held from March 3 to 26 and the Plus One examinations from March 6 to 29. The schedule had been finalised well in advance, with the higher secondary examinations scheduled in the afternoon and the SSLC and the school annual examinations in the morning. As the Plus One improvement examinations of the students currently in Plus Two would be held along with the Plus One annual examinations, a total of 18 days would be needed to conduct the higher secondary examinations. The examinations on two Fridays would begin at 2 p.m. and go on till 4.45 p.m. Any change in the timings from afternoon to morning would lead to a situation where the examinations would not end in March, affecting result declaration and students’ higher education prospects.
