The HinduThe East Godavari District authorities have decided to introduce new district-level guidelines for the operation of boats for fishing, transportation and tourism in the Godavari river. The move came in the wake of the capsize of a fishing boat that was operated for tourists, causing the death of two persons at Havelock Bridge in Rajamahendravaram on March 3. In a district-level meeting with the officials of the Tourism, Revenue, Fisheries, and Irrigation Departments held on March 4, District Collector P. Prasanthi directed them to submit draft guidelines to be adopted for the vigilance and monitoring of the boats being operated for various purposes in the river. ‘Conduct probe’ She has ordered for conduct of a detailed probe into the capsize of the boat that was operated for tourist purposes on March 3.
