Queensland's COVID-19 isolation ends with border roads thrown open to double-vaccinated arrivals from across Australia
ABCThere have been emotional scenes at Queensland airports this morning as families and friends were reunited for the first time in months as the state's borders reopened to people from interstate COVID-19 hotspots. Small number of people turned back Commissioner Carroll reminded people there were "strict criteria" to enter Queensland, after a small number of people were turned away at the border. "There've been a number of cases where people have turned up and said the borders are open and they don't have a pass at all," she told ABC Radio Brisbane this morning. Surge in visitors expected on Friday Queensland Tourism Industry Council CEO Daniel Gschwind said the reopening was "momentous" for the tourism industry, which he said had lost $20 billion in revenue during the pandemic.
