Online gaming conversion case: Ghaziabad police records statement of accused's mother in Thane

India Today

Ghaziabad police on Thursday recorded the statement of accused Shahnawaz Khan's mother, Mumtaz Khan, in connection with the online gaming conversion case. The development came after the Uttar Pradesh Police uncovered a conversion racket in which teenagers were allegedly being targetted through an online gaming application 'Fortnite' and enticed to convert their religion. Police sources said after the case was registered in Ghaziabad, Shahnawaz Khan, along with his two brothers, and mother left for Maharashtra's Solapur in a car. Four minors -- two from Ghaziabad and one each from Faridabad and Chandigarh -- who converted through the online gaming app have been identified so far by the police.
