Former CM raises doubts over majority of govt in Assembly
The HinduFormer Chief Minister and Congress leader V. Narayanasamy has questioned the majority of the AINRC-BJP government in the Puducherry Assembly following the open declaration by three BJP legislators and three Independents supporting the alliance to steer a separate political formation in the Union Territory. Addressing a press conference here, Mr. Narayanasamy said three BJP legislators and three Independents supporting the government had recently organised an event with businessman, Jose Charles Martin, son of lottery baron Santiago Martin. When asked if the Congress would approach the Lieutenant Governor for a floor test, the former Chief Minister said the party would reveal it’s stand after Mr. Rangasamy makes his position clear on his government’s majority. The Prime Minister spoke to a Chief Minister in an Opposition-ruled State but did not speak to Mr. Rangasamy who is in an alliance government with the BJP in the Union Territory,” he said.
