Body found in search for missing mom after crash into Amsterdam canal

NL Times

Fire brigade divers found a body in an Amsterdam canal on Sunday evening while searching for a woman who crashed her car into a side branch of the IJ river during the early hours of that morning. It is believed that the body found is the woman who was involved in the accident with her three children, but her identity must still be officially confirmed. The body was found just before the divers were to call off their search due to the darkness, a police spokesperson said to newspaper AD. Three fire brigade diving teams immediately launched a search for the woman, assisted by a police helicopter, a thermal imaging camera, and a boat with sonar equipment.
