17 Crore Jobs Created in India Over The Last 10 Years: Centre
ABP NewsNew Delhi: Union Minister of State for Labour and Employment Shobha Karandlaje announced in the Lok Sabha that employment in India increased by around 17 crore over the past decade, as reported by news agency IANS. She also highlighted that the Periodic Labour Force Survey, conducted by the Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation since 2017-18, serves as the official data source for employment and unemployment figures. The government prioritizes employment generation and employability, implementing various schemes through ministries such as Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises, Rural Development, Housing and Urban Affairs, Finance, Textiles, and Electronics and Information Technology. Key programmes include the Prime Minister's Employment Generation Programme, Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme, and Pradhan Mantri Mudra Yojana. Additionally, the 2024-25 Budget introduced a Prime Minister's package with five schemes aimed at providing employment, skilling, and other opportunities to 4.1 crore youth over five years, with a central allocation of Rs 2 lakh crore.
