Special squads deployed in Kozhikode to check illegal sale of banned plastic products

Noticing the wholesale trade and misuse of banned plastic carry bags and products, the Kozhikode district administration has deployed seven special squads to carry out intensified enforcement actions. Based on the District Collector’s latest instructions, the special squads will conduct at least two rounds of flash inspections within the limits of grama panchayats. Though some of them were held during flash inspections by the local administrators, the illegal sale continued unabated in the absence of regular inspections. Hefty fine is on the cards for violators as the local administrators are also serious about the ongoing drive,” said a senior Revenue department official associated with the checking squad.
