High Court refuses urgent hearing on plea against OBC-Kunbi certificates to Marathas

While declining an immediate hearing on the Kunbi-Maratha issue, the Bombay High Court emphasised that since Kunbi caste certificates had been issued to Maratha community members since November 2023, the petitioner could wait a few more days for the plea to be heard. While seeking an urgent hearing, he stated, “This PIL challenges various government resolutions issued by the Maharashtra government since 2004. The Chief Justice, noting that Kunbi caste certificates had been issued to Marathas since November 2023, suggested waiting a few more days for the hearing. The PIL challenges various government resolutions, including those issued on January 18 and 25, 2024, allowing Marathas to obtain Kunbi certificates and enjoy reservation benefits.
