In a statement, the broadcaster said: “Nigel Farage’s contract with LBC is up very shortly and, following discussions with him, Nigel is stepping down from LBC with immediate effect. “We thank Nigel for the enormous contribution he has made to LBC and wish him well.” After the news was announced, O’Brien tweeted: “We got our station back.” Earlier in the week, he had posted: “Nigel Farage is a particularly pungent skidmark on the underpants of Britain. Nobody can be genuinely surprised by his latest belches of base bigotry.” Farage’s departure follows a backlash over his comments about Black Lives Matter.
