Veteran filmmaker Subhash Ghai will be given the prestigious Lifetime Achievement honour at the upcoming International Indian Film Academy awards New Delhi: Veteran filmmaker Subhash Ghai will be given the prestigious Lifetime Achievement honour at the upcoming International Indian Film Academy awards ceremony in Kuala Lumpur next month. Ghai, 70, who directed notable films like “Kalicharan”,“Karz”, “Hero”, “Ram Lakhan” and “Taal”, will be honoured for his outstanding contribution to Indian cinema and nurturing young talents through his media institution Whistling Woods. We have named the award as Outstanding Contribution to Indian cinema instead of Lifetime Achievement because we present the honour to the living legends of Indian cinema, who are yet to achieve many more milestones in their career,” Andre Timmins, spokesperson IIFA, told PTI. Often called as the showman of Indian cinema, Ghai started his career in Bollywood as an actor with small roles in films including “Taqdeer” before he called the shots.
