Childless farmer couple in UP adopts calf, hosts 'mundan' for 'son' Laltu baba

Residents of Shahjahanpur in Uttar Pradesh, farmer Vijaypal and his wife Rajeshwari Devi have been married for 15 years. Driven by a sense of childlessness, the couple decided to adopt a calf as their son, naming it 'Laltu baba'. In fact, the farmer couple even hosted a 'mundan' for the calf, which is a common ritual performed after the birth of a child in Hindu households. "The calf has been attached to us since its birth," Vijaypal told the national daily adding that he always treated Laltu as his son.
