Association urges Health dept to ensure patients without insurance cards are treated

The Hindu

The Tamilnadu Health Development Association has urged the Health department to ensure that patients who do not have Chief Minister’s Comprehensive Health Insurance Scheme cards are treated in government hospitals. It was the State’s responsibility to provide good healthcare for all persons, particularly those who seek healthcare in government hospitals. The association urged the State government to ensure that heads of all government hospitals displayed information stating that all patients including those without CMCHIS cards would be treated and no one would be turned away for want of cards. Dr. Rex Sargunam said that under Universal Health Coverage, persons should be treated free irrespective of the States they were from.
