Pinarayi Vijayan assures 'no evictions from Munambam' amid waqf land grab claim

Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan, who held an online meeting on the Waqf land dispute on Saturday, assured that no one would be evicted from Munambam village. In a meeting with the Munambam Samara Samiti, Vijayan said that his government aims to resolve the Munambam issue without causing difficulties to the residents. In Cherai and Munambam villages in Ernakulam district, residents have alleged that the Waqf Board was unlawfully pressing claims on their land and properties, despite the people holding registered deeds and land tax payment receipts. "It has also been decided to intervene in the ongoing High Court cases to support the residents and take necessary steps to lift the existing stay order that blocks tax payments.
