Violence against doctors sparks outrage after recent attacks in Chennai
India TodayThe issue of violence against doctors has resurfaced after a doctor in Chennai was recently stabbed by a patient's attendant. This attack follows the tragic rape and murder of a trainee doctor at RG Kar Medical College in Kolkata, which has led to nationwide protests by medical professionals. Doctors in Kolkata continue to demand strict action against the accused, Sanjay Roy, as they hold prolonged protests to raise awareness. A study by the Indian Medical Association reveals that 75 per cent of doctors in India have experienced violence during their careers, with 46.3 per cent citing it as a major source of stress.
