Delhi High Court defers DK Shivakumar's plea against ED disproportionate assets probe
India TodayThe Delhi High Court on Tuesday adjourned the hearing of Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar’s plea against a money laundering investigation by the Enforcement Directorate to January 23, 2025. Shivakumar had filed the petition in 2022, seeking to quash the ED’s investigation, including summons issued to him under an Enforcement Case Information Report registered in 2020 following allegations of disproportionate assets. In his petition, Shivakumar alleged that the ED’s current investigation constituted a second set of proceedings on the same matter, describing it as an abuse of legal process and a mala fide exercise of power. On May 2, 2023, the Delhi High Court had ruled that the ED would be “bound” by its assurance not to take coercive action against Shivakumar in the case.
