Implement one nation, one ration card system in 1 year without fail: Centre to states, UTs
India TodayThe Central government on Saturday gave a one-year time to the states and the Union Territories to implement the "one nation, one ration card" system "without any fail". Speaking on the "one nation, one ration card" system, Union Minister of Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution Ram Vilas Paswan said that 10 states are already providing the social security benefits of Public Distribution System entitlements. Speaking to media, Ram Vilas Paswan said that by June 30, 2020, the "one nation, one ration card" should be implemented in the entire country to ensure "no poor is deprived of PDS entitlement if that person shifts from one place to another". The Union minister also said that the "one nation, one ration card" system will help remove fake ration card holders.
