Training on collecting digital evidences to ensure conviction of accused

The Hindu

A training programme on collecting digital evidences to identify culprits involved in the cases and presenting these evidences in the court to ensure their conviction was held here recently. Since digital evidences like audio / video social media posts, data transfer, online money transfer, mobile phone calls, etc., play vital role in cracking crime cases and strengthening the cases in the court during trial, the training programme was organised here recently to train the officers – right from Additional Superintendent of Police to Sub-Inspectors – from Tirunelveli, Thoothukudi, Tenkasi and Kanniyakumari. The participants were trained in collecting evidences from electronic devices like mobile phones, desktop computers, laptops, memory cards, etc., as part of their investigation and storing the evidences in their devices to be presented in the court during the trial to prove their case. The trainees were given training on using the digital evidences to identify the culprits and applying legal provisions to strengthen their case to ensure conviction of the accused.
