Massive protests held in Assam against Citizenship Amendment Bill

The All Assam Students' Union and 28 other organisations, representing various ethnic and tribal communities took out a protest rally today against the Citizenship Bill, 2016 in Guwahati. The Citizenship Bill, 2016, is proposed act to grant citizenship to illegal immigrants belonging to Hindu, Sikh, Buddhist, Jain, Parsi and Christian from Afghanistan, Bangladesh and Pakistan who entered India till December 31, 2014. Top leaders of the students group claimed that the Centre and Assam government will face massive protests in coming days if the bill is not withdrawn. Members of All Tai Ahom Students' Union also staged a protest against the bill by tonsuring their heads near Duliajan Pepoltol Tiniali in Dibrugarh.
