Tomato prices shoot up, nearly 400% costlier in Delhi | Details

Severe heatwave spells have adversely impacted the prices of tomatoes in the national capital as the production has been hit in Rajasthan and Gujarat. The prices of tomatoes are nearly 400 per cent higher than in previous years, according to the wholesale and retail vegetable sellers. In the retail market, tomatoes are selling for Rs 65-80 per kg this year, while the prices in the month of May in 2020 and 2021 were just about Rs 12-18 per kg. In the retail market, lemons are selling for Rs 135-160 per kg now after touching Rs 280-300 for the same quantity earlier this month.
