Packers hope healthy David Bakhtiari, Elgton Jenkins can be NFL’s best left side again
New York TimesGREEN BAY, Wis. — It’s been three years since David Bakhtiari and Elgton Jenkins were healthy and consistently playing the type of football of which they’re capable. “They just had limited opportunities to be out there together at their best over the last three years because of those injuries, but they both look great right now.” In 2020, Pro Football Focus logged Bakhtiari with nine quarterback pressures and one sack allowed in 446 pass-blocking snaps, good for a 91.6 pass-blocking grade, the best among offensive tackles. “I’m not gonna be, like, a fortune teller or anything, but I think we’re finally — feel really good in a spot that I think the team and I understand kinda what we need to do,” Bakhtiari said last week. “The left side gonna be good.” Packers GM Brian Gutekunst on Anders Carlson, who’s 16-for-27 on field goals through four kicking days: “We went into this kind of knowing that rookie kickers will have some struggles with the thought process there will be some patience there.” pic.twitter.com/3rkxJqFkLy — Matt Schneidman August 4, 2023 There aren’t many certainties entering the 2023 season in Green Bay.
