US and India to explore further advancements in defence innovation: US Consul General
New Indian ExpressBENGALURU: BENGALURU: To advance cooperation in space, the US and India are preparing to launch the NISAR satellite, a collaborative project between National Aeronautics and Space Administration and Indian Space Research Organisation. Speaking with TNIE, US Consul General in Chennai, Chris Hodges, mentioned that in the defence sector, an innovation summit that commenced on September 9 in the Silicon Valley had defence technology innovators, investors, and researchers brainstorming on U.S.-India defence industrial cooperation. Under India-U.S. Defense Acceleration Ecosystem, US and India have committed to $1.2 million in funding 10 US and Indian companies to drive defence innovation. Apart from Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, particularly Bengaluru, continues to be a hub for AI and emerging technologies, he said, adding that with local research universities like Indian Institute of Science and international collaborations, major companies are investing in the state’s talent pool, drawn by the region’s robust ecosystem of innovation and research.
