International Women's Day 2022: Costume designer felicitated with Stree Shakti Puruskar for making recyclable clothes

India Today

Instituted in 1999, the Nari Shakti Puruskar is the highest civilian honour for women in India, which celebrates the efforts and works of individuals and organizations towards women's empowerment. With International Women’s Day being observed throughout the world, this year’s recipient of the prestigious award, Sandhya Raman, is truly an exemplary individual setting a benchmark in her field both locally and globally. Keeping in mind the swiftly changing trends, these ‘Recyclable Clothes’, which includes jackets, lehangas etc, are also made reversible to increase their utility and longevity. Apart from this, Sandhya also created a special kind of face mask with interchangeable filters called AARMR mask during 2020 to reduce the waste generated from single-use masks.
