NHL trade grades: Predators land Jason Zucker from Coyotes at a bargain price

Eric Duhatschek: When Zucker signed a one-year, $5.3 million contract with the Coyotes on the opening day of free agency last summer, this was always a logical and predictable outcome — that he’d put in his time with Arizona, and if they weren’t a playoff team, he’d be flipped at the deadline for an asset. After a respectable 27-goal season for Pittsburgh last season, Zucker managed just nine goals in 51 games this season, along with 16 assists, which left him ninth overall in scoring on a Coyotes team that doesn’t score much. Zucker was born in Southern California but was raised in Las Vegas, so Vegas Even with Zucker’s so-so scoring numbers, the fact that the Coyotes only received a sixth-round pick still makes him seem like a huge bargain for the Predators — basically, that makes practically a free player. With Zucker being one of the team’s few useful trade assets, it’s pretty big disappointment for the Coyotes.
