Analyzing the Jets’ biggest issues after Cowboys loss, and solutions to fix them
New York TimesARLINGTON, Texas — New York Jets coach Robert Saleh likes to call it the apocalypse, the reaction when an NFL team loses in any given week. One way the Jets can help Wilson is to call more quick passing plays, which didn’t seem to be a big part of Sunday’s game plan. When Wilson has thrown the ball in 2.5 seconds or less the last two weeks, he’s completed 17 of 23 passes for 207 yards, two touchdowns, no interceptions and a league-best 130.2 passer rating. Maybe Cook is still getting his sea legs after not joining the Jets until the end of training camp, but he’s lacked burst in the first two games. The solution: The play-calling from Nathaniel Hackett left something to be desired, but the Jets can’t afford to play ultra-conservative every week, especially if the running game doesn’t get going.
