One woman and a man left for dead in Rye shooting on the Mornington Peninsula - as suspected killer goes on the run amid massive police manhunt

A dead woman who was found next to a dying man had turned up at his house in the middle of the night armed with a gun, with police hunting a second man who fled the scene. Crime Command Detective Superintendent Janet Stevenson said the fight broke out when the woman and teh second man turned up at the dead man's home around 4am. Police and forensic teams are pictured at Parson St, in Rye, on Monday morning Detectives could be scouring the area for evidence as they worked the crime scene Forensics teams were seen carrying bags of evidence out of the home Calling on the public for help, she said the second man, who police are yet to identify, is believed to have taken off in a vehicle and he could still possibly be armed. Detective Superintendent Stevenson said police are yet to determine the nature of the dispute, but one line of inquiry was whether drugs were involved in the incident. Detective Superintendent Stevenson said police are still investigating how many people were at the home at the time and where the gun involved in the shooting came from.
