Tony Jones Jr. looked good in camp last year, but that didn’t translate to the regular season, so they had to go get Mark Ingram, who isn’t going to be around forever. — James C. Every year I try to remind myself that the season before has little bearing on the current season, but it’s hard not to get suckered in considering the Saints would’ve been a playoff team if one or two things fell their way last year. I do think the one thing people never mention when discussing the Saints is that their best players are a year older, and the finish of Jordan’s 2021 season skews things a little because he had no sacks for the first five games. I think linebacker Zack Baun would be a liability this year if he’s put in a position of having to start every game, simply based on what I saw last year.
