BJP Karnataka social media cell convenor summoned over controversial post

Prashant Makanur, the convenor of BJP Karnataka's Social Media Cell, was summoned by city police on Thursday regarding a social media post allegedly targeting members of the SC and ST communities. Makanur was released on bail after obtaining anticipatory bail, while BJP President J P Nadda and the party's IT cell national head, Amit Malviya, were also issued summons in connection with the incident. The complaint cited a video uploaded on a social media platform, allegedly by the official account of Karnataka State BJP, operated by Malviya. Legal action Makanur, Nadda, Malviya, and Vijayendra, BJP Karnataka President and Social Media in-charge were booked under sections of the Representation of People Act and section 505 of the Indian Penal Code, which pertains to statements promoting enmity between classes.
