EPFO simplifies account transfer rules, employees can also correct personal details using Aadhaar number
In a significant reform that would ease the burden on subscribers, the Employees Provident Fund Organisation has simplified the process of joint declaration on the EPFO portal by allowing employees to self-correct errors in their personal details such as name, date of birth, gender, nationality, father/ mother’s name, marital status, spouse name, date of joining and date of leaving. Dr. Mandaviya said the EPF members who have linked their Universal Account Number with their Aadhaar number, can file their transfer claims online using the one time password generated using Aadhaar. “The process put huge workload on employer and the EPFO even where the employee had already authenticated his identity through Aadhaar KYC process,” he said. During last nine months, almost 20 lakh claims remained pending with employers for more than 15 days,” he said and added that with the new reform, members with fully compliant e-KYC EPF accounts can file their online transfer claims using Aadhaar OTP directly with the EPFO without any need for intervention of employer.
