Encroachments on platforms at Central Bus Terminus remain a concern for commuters

Encroachments on platforms at the Corporation’s Central Bus Terminus continue to cause difficulties for commuters, as unauthorised stalls obstruct movement of passengers. Established in 1973, the bus stand, located in the core city area near Mettur and Sathy Road, handles approximately 4,100 bus services daily, including mofussil, city, intercity, and minibuses, serving over one lakh passengers per day. Despite recent development works, vendors selling snacks, fruits, and flowers continue to occupy platform space, causing inconvenience to commuters. “They should not be allowed to occupy so much space freely when shopkeepers within the premises pay higher rents,” said T. Gunasekar, an elderly citizen.
