No life this! Periyapatna village to boycott Loksabha poll
Deccan ChronicleMysuru: People of Mummadi Kaval village in Periyapatna taluk of Mysuru-Kodagu constituency are so fed up with their poor living conditions and the neglect of successive governments that they have decided to boycott these Loksabha polls. Although the village has a large population of scheduled caste and backward class communities, it still does not have proper roads, and the people find their houses flooded in every spell of heavy rain. Although Mummadi Kaval has been chosen under the Prime Minister’s model village programme and Rs 45 lakh has been allotted for its development, government officers have failed to provide its people basic facilities, says a villager, Doddaiah. Ironically, the village is part of the Malangi gram panchayat, which has been labelled a model gram panchayat and awarded the Gandhi Puraskar, he notes.
