Khris Middleton, Brook Lopez and George Hill are returning to Bucks, but Malcolm Brogdon is going to Pacers
New York TimesFor the Bucks, the entire NBA offseason was about their three most important free agents. With the Larry Bird exception on Middleton and Brogdon’s restricted free agency, the Bucks could have offered more than anyone else for Middleton and matched any offer sheet Brogdon signed. Middleton’s ability to cover the league’s best wings allows Antetokounmpo to roam the entire floor and make plays for a defense that finished second lowest in points allowed per 100 possessions. If the Pacers had signed Brogdon to a four-year, $85 million offer sheet and the Bucks wanted to match it, they could have done so and gotten close to the luxury tax threshold. On top of the sign-and-trade deal with Brogdon, the Bucks weren’t finished, agreeing to terms on a three-year, $29 million deal with veteran point guard George Hill, according to The Athletic’s Shams Charania.
