
New mini bus scheme will be fully implemented before May 2025: Minister
The HinduThe Transport Department was aiming to fully implement the new comprehensive mini bus scheme before May 2025, Transport Minister S. S. Sivasankar said here on Thursday. Speaking to reporters after chairing a meeting with the department officials of Tiruchi, Thanjavur, Salem and Erode zones to discuss the scheme,, Mr. Sivasankar pointed out that the mini bus scheme was launched during the tenure of former Chief Minister M. Karunanidhi and was now being further expanded to provide such services even to remote villages for the benefit of the general public. The Minister who also reviewed the number of applications received so far in each district for operation of mini buses advised the Regional Transport Officers to create awareness among the general public about the new scheme and ascertain their suggestions with respect to their requirements for the operation of the buses. Principal Secretary / Transport Commissioner / Commissioner of Road Safety S. J. Chiru and Perambalur Collector Grace Pachuau presided over the meeting held at the District Collectorate in which zonal officers and Regional Transport Officers of the districts falling under the four zones participated.
