Six people, including a peon, were arrested in Madhya Pradesh for allegedly embezzling Rs 10 crore and using a part of the amount to buy lands, police said. It all started four months ago when the prime accused, Brijendra Das Namdev, a peon working for the Madhya Pradesh Seed Certification Agency, in connivance with others, had taken a fixed deposit of Rs 10 crore from a bank account. One of the accused, Shailendra Pradhan, along with his other associates, first got these bank accounts opened by preparing fake documents and then the amount of Rs 10 crore was sent to these bank accounts. In this way, the accused were going to grab the 50 per cent subsidy available in the scheme by investing Rs 10 crore embezzled from the Animal Husbandry Department of the Seed Certification Institute.
