Govt. focuses attention on checking illegal sand mining

The State government has focussed attention on checking the illegal sand mining in different parts of the State as it is resulting in huge losses to the exchequer. Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy took a serious note of the disparity and directed the officials concerned to ensure that consumers are provided sand with reasonable costs. He wanted the officials concerned to take all necessary steps to see that there was no scope for illegal mining and transportation of sand so that the State could secure estimated revenues. The committee comprising Finance special chief secretary K. Ramakrishna Rao, Mines department secretary N. Sridhar, Flagship Programmes commissioner Shashank and State Mineral Development Corporation managing director Sushil Kumar as members was directed to submit its report along with comprehensive guidelines within a week.
