Karnataka govt to set aside ₹100 crore to revamp Ram temples
Hindustan TimesBengaluru: When Prime Minister Narendra Modi was at the consecration of Ram Lalla Idol in Ayodhya, Karnataka CM Siddaramaiah, often dubbed as the atheist by critics, inaugurated a Ram Temple in Bengaluru’s Mahadevapura area. For this, the state Congress government has allocated ₹100 crore for the renovation of ancient Ram temples across the state. The budgetary allocation of ₹100 crore for the renovation of 100 ancient Ram temples has sparked political debates, particularly in light of the upcoming Lok Sabha elections where the BJP is leveraging the Ayodhya Ram Temple issue. Addressing the rationale behind the temple renovation initiative, Muzrai minister Ramalinga Reddy said the government’s commitment to upgrading temples, including Ram temples, across the state. The party tweeted: “The government has earmarked ₹100 crores for the renovation of ancient Ram temples.
