Dept of culture completes five years of Sunday Cinema
Deccan ChronicleHYDERABAD: The department of culture completed five years of ‘Sunday Cinema’ during which time it has screened 200 movies in multiple languages from across the world at the Paidi Jairaj Theatre at Ravindra Bharathi as well as made space for upcoming filmmakers. The department established the theatre as a start-up for film learning and introduced Cinevaaram for short films and Sunday Cinema to showcase world cinema. Sunday Cinema exposed young film lovers to the technique and themes of international cinema in writing stories to screenplays and to direction, framing of visuals, scenic order, etc, a statement said. World-famous movies such as ‘Rashomon’ by Akira Kurosawa, ‘Amelie’ by Jean-Pierre Jeunet, ‘Where is the friend’s home’ by Abbas Kiarostami, ‘Run Lola Run’ by Tom Tykwer, ‘Life is Beautiful’ by Roberto Benigni, ‘Children of the Heaven’ by Majid Majidi, ‘The Cranes are Flying’ by Mikhail Kalatozov and many other movies have been screened at the theatre.
