A notification in this regard was issued today and which reads thus: "The Governor of Punjab in exercise of the powers conferred under Article 165 of the Constitution of India, is pleased to appoint Shri Amar Preet Singh Deol, Senior Advocate, Punjab and Haryana High Court.as Advocate General for the state of Punjab with effect from the date he assumes charges of his office." This comes days after Senior Advocate Atul Nanda resigned from the post of AG on September 18 citing constitutional convention and highlighting that his appointment was co-terminus with the chief minister's appointment.
