Namakkal DCDRC directs car company to provide new vehicle to customer

The Namakkal District Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission directed a car company to provide a new car with ₹3 lakh compensation for a customer for selling a car with manufacturing defects. A.G. Saravanakumar, a resident of Thottiyapatti near Rasipuram, bought a new car by paying ₹20.03 lakh in a showroom in Namakkal in October 2020. Investigating the case, DCDRC commissioner V. Ramaraj directed the car manufacturing company to provide a new car to the customer or return the money he paid for the car with 9% interest calculated from the date of payment made. For causing mental agony, the car company is to give ₹3 lakh in compensation to the customer within four weeks, the DCDRC added in its order.
