Crime Branch to probe charges against MLA I.C. Balakrishnan, Wayanad DCC president N.D. Appachan

The Crime Branch will investigate the abetment charges against I.C. Balakrishnan, Congress MLA from Sulthan Bathery; N.D. Appachan, Wayanad District Congress Committee president; and K.K. Gopinathan, former DCC treasurer, in connection with the death by suicide of N.M. Vijayan, former DCC treasurer, and the three cheating cases against them related to offering jobs in a local bank. Meanwhile, the Principal Sessions Court in Kalpetta issued an order against the arrest of the Congress leaders until the arguments in an anticipatory bail petition filed by the accused were over. The lawyers of Mr. Appachan and Mr. Balakrishnan presented their arguments on Wednesday and the court would hear those by Mr. Gopinathan and the prosecution on Thursday.
