MP High Court Issues Notice To Facebook, YouTube In Contempt Plea Over Objectionable Posts Against Acharya Dhirendra Shastri
Live LawThe Madhya Pradesh High Court has issued show cause notices to YouTube and Facebook officials in a contempt petition filed against them alleging that the two internet companies failed to comply with the High Court's last month's order to remove objectionable posts against Hindu spiritual leader Acharya Dhirendra Krishna Shastri. A bench of Justice Raj Mohan Singh issued notices to the respondents on payment of process fee within seven working days. It may be noted that on December 4, taking action on a petition filed by one of the disciples, the High Court had given stringent directions to social media platforms such as X, Facebook, and YouTube to remove tarnishing content published about the Acharya Shastri. The order was passed on the petition filed by one Ranjit Singh Patel alleging that the posts being circulated about the Acharya were not only defamatory but also tantamount to maligning the image of Peethadheeshwar of Shri Bageshwar Dham, Chhatarpur.
