34-year-old Singaporean charged for stoking racial tensions over Tweets against Indian migrants

A 34-year-old Singaporean man, who posted offensive Tweets against Indian migrants, has been charged in court over stoking racial tensions. Zainal allegedly posted a tweet under the handle @sharonliew86 on October 11, 2019, stating Malay students in the different academic streams were not on the same level as their Chinese counterparts. The same tweet also mentioned Singapore's late founding minister Lee Kuan Yew's book, Lee Kuan Yew: Hard Truths to Keep Singapore Going as the basis of the tweet. On March 25, he allegedly posted a tweet under the same handle using a racial slur against Indians about safe distance in MRT trains, according to the Channel report.
