Panthers, Chuba Hubbard agree to 4-year extension: What it means for Carolina’s future backfield

New York Times

Running back Chuba Hubbard has been one of the few bright spots for the Carolina Panthers this season. Hubbard, 25, is averaging 5.0 yards per carry this season tallying 665 yards on 133 carries with five rushing touchdowns. This is a franchise that gave Miles Sanders a four-year, $25 million contract in 2023, only to see the former Philadelphia Eagles back lose his starting job to Hubbard last season and become an afterthought this season. With Hubbard locked up and Sanders an almost certain offseason cut, the Panthers’ backfield has a nice balance with Hubbard and rookie Brooks, an explosive, speed back who was activated Wednesday about a year after tearing his ACL at Texas.
