Five-year term of MCC council ends on February 27

The Hindu

The five-year term of Mangaluru City Corporation council, led by the BJP, expires on February 27, even as the last monthly meeting of the council is scheduled on Thursday. The BJP sat in the treasury benches of the corporation for the first time by ending the two-decade control of the Congress in the civic body by winning the election conducted on September 28, 2007. The government is yet to announce ward-wise draft reservation for the next election to the council and invite objections if any. Sources in the two parties said that no preliminary consultations or meetings have been held to discuss the strategies to be made to face the next election.
